What is Slip-X® NEXT™? Slip-X NEXT is a revolutionary new material that’s 100% recyclable, as well as PVC-free, Phthalate-free, and BPA-free. It’s also amazingly slip-resistant!
What recycling class do Slip-X NEXT products fall into? Slip-X NEXT is a special formulation of Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE), which is Class #7. However, TPE’s are compatible with Class #5 (Polypropylene), and Class #2 (High Density Polyethylene). “Compatible” means that the two materials can be recycled together without disrupting the mechanical properties of either material.
Can I include my old Slip-X NEXT products with my other curbside recycling? Yes, you can. For specific instructions and guidelines (which differ slightly by region), we recommend you contact your local/regional recycling center.
What are Phthalates? Phthalates are chemicals that are maily used as plasticizers (substances added to plastics to increase their flexibility, transparency, durability, and longevity). Phthalates are primarily used to soften polyvinyl chloride (PVC), which many bathroom products are made of. Phthalates are being phased out of many products in the United States and Europe due to growing health concerns.
Why is Slip-X® Solutions moving away from phthalates? Phthalates have been linked to concerning developmental and reproductive outcomes such as impaired genital development in boys, shortened pregnancy, and premature breast development in young girls according to the Department of Health and Human Services. Phthalates are also non-recyclable.
Why is Slip-X Solutions moving away BPAs? BPA’s have been associated with cardiovascular disease, type-2 diabetes, and liver abnormalities, among other diseases according to the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).
What makes Slip-X NEXT bath mats special? In addition to the personal health and environmental benefits described above, Slip-X NEXT bath mats are also among the safest mats you can buy. They have an amazingly high coefficient of friction, which makes them tackier, more slip-resistant, and thus safer for you and your family.
Are Slip-X NEXT products as durable as other similar products in the marketplace? Most of the products that compete with Slip-X NEXT products are made of PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride). While PVC is certainly durable, the Slip-X NEXT material is more elastic and can be stretched further than PVC, yet maintain its original shape. Slip-X NEXT material is also stronger than PVC, it lasts longer, and it offers the same resistance to acids, alcohols, and cleaning solutions as PVC.
What is the best way to care for my Slip-X NEXT products? Slip-X NEXT products are durable, low maintenance, and simple to care for. Simply drop them in your washing machine from time to time and they will serve you well for years!
Why are Slip-X NEXT products slightly more expensive than similar Slip-X Solutions products made from older materials? In order to provide you with the safest and healthiest products possible, we’ve chosen to invest in the safest and healthiest material available. Slip-X NEXT material is slightly more expensive than the PVC’s used in our other Slip-X Solutions products.

Where are your Slip-X NEXT products made? We manufacture our Slip-X NEXT products in China. However, through our partnership with the global leader in Thermoplastic Elastomer technology (who’s based here in the U.S.), we control what goes into every Slip-X NEXT product from start to finish. Our U.S. based partner has facilities in China which follow FDA guidelines when producing our TPE’s. These facilities are near our manufacturing factories.
Before installing Safety Treads, do I need to prep the surface of my tub? Our Safety Treads are easy to apply. Simply clean your tub normally, wipe it down with rubbing alcohol, allow it to dry (or wipe it dry with a towel), then apply your treads one at a time. For best results, we recommend that you not use your tub for 24 hours after the treads have been applied so that the treads can adhere completely.
Why do you recommend your Safety Treads for non-textured surfaces only? Because in some cases, the tiny surface ridges and irregularities found on textured surfaces can create air pockets underneath the Tread surface that interfere with adhesion. As with any other sticker, decal, or appliqué, our Safety Treads work best on smooth, flat surfaces.
How do I remove my Safety Treads?
- First, pull up one tip at either end of the tread; we suggest using a dull putty or butter knife to help lift the tread from the tub surface.
- Once you have a small portion pulled away from the tub, slowly peel the rest of the tread up, being careful not to rip the tread from the surface as this may cause minor damage to the surface of the tub.
- If you have trouble removing the remainder of the tread, moisten the tread with a mixture of water and a common bathtub cleaner to soften the adhesive.
- After all treads have been removed, clean you tub surface with common bathtub cleaner. If there is residual adhesive on the tub, use a standard adhesive remover such as GooGone to remove it. Adhesive removers can be found at most local hardware stores and major grocery stores.
Do your bath mats have drain holes? Yes. All of our bath mats come with multiple drain holes, so water does not collect on the mat.
How should I clean my Slip-X Solutions bath mat? Slip-X Solutions bath and shower mats are easy to care for. Simply hang them after use to dry, then drop them in your washing machine from time to time for a thorough cleaning. All of our mats are machine washable for years of use.
Do Slip-X Solutions bath mats use suction cups to stay in place? Yes. Currently, all of our bath mats use suction cups.
What are the dimensions of the Stop-A-Clog? The Stop-a-Clog itself is 5” in diameter. The central dome is 3" in diameter and 1/2” high.
Do you offer any other Snug Plug sizes? We only carry one Snug Plug size (1.5” diameter), but it fits most standard sink and tub drains.
